Jimmy has been invited to participate in the Ravinia Festival Steans Institute for Young Artists. The Program for Jazz exists to promote the art of small ensemble improvisation. Although part of the program focuses on performing a well-rehearsed concert, most of the days are spent rehearsing with a variety of individuals, learning how to perform well with changing personnel. Participation in the Program for Jazz is by invitation only.
Headed by Dr. David Baker of Indiana University, the faculty includes Nathan Davis, James Moody, and Rufus Reid.
The group will perform at the Ravinia Festival on June 19th, at 7:30 PM at Bennett Gordon Hall. For additional information: Click here!


2009 NEXT GENERATION JAZZ ORCHESTRA -- Posted on Saturday, April 18 2009
Jimmy has been selected to be a member of the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra. The group will do a Midwest tour this summer, and will perform at the Monterey Jazz Festival with Wynton Marsalis in September. The is the second time Jimmy has been invited to perform with this highly select group. The tour dates, subject to change, are as follows:

BETTY CARTER JAZZ AHEAD -- Posted on Wednesday, February 11 2009
Jimmy was chosen to be part of the residency program at the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program at the Kennedy Center. This two-week residency culminated in several concerts at the Kennedy Center.
